During the middle of September a film crew of over 100 camera men, producers, executive producers and assistants descended on our Mayhem course. Ireland’s Fittest Family a prime time RTE show, were there to film their Semi Finals at Mayhem. 6 families came to Mayhem and 4 left. We can’t tell you who though, so you will have to keep your eyes peeled on RTE to find out more.
Series 3 is much bigger than ever before, with more heartbreak, joy, grunting, shouting, panting and general breathlessness! RTE were searching the country to find the fittest, fastest, strongest families to enter Ireland’s most extreme fitness competition, and we think they found them!
During this time we changed the track a little for them, adding more lanes to our lillie pads, tunnels with water and balancing beams. It was really great having the crew, coaches and RTE down to Kedrah Castle, Cahir, and we are super exited to see the final version aired on RTE this winter.
The 4 coaches of the families were:
Davy Fitzgerald – David “Davy” Fitzgerald is an Irish hurling manager and former player. He has been the manager of the Clare senior team since 2011.
Alan Quinlan – Alan Quinlan is a retired Irish rugby union player. He played for Munster and was registered to the AIB League side Shannon. He retired from rugby in May 2011.
Jason Sherlock – Jason “Jayo” Sherlock is a former Irish Gaelic footballer who played for Dublin between 1995 and 2010. He played most of his club football for Na Fianna in Glasnevin in the northern suburbs of Dublin.
Anna Geary – Anna Geary is a camogie player, winner of four All Star awards most recently in 2011. She previously won All-Star awards in 2005 and 2006 and 2010. and All Ireland medals in 2005 2006, 2009 and 2014
